On Saturday, we woke up at 6 AM (haven't
done that since leaving work) to go to the Aquas de Ramon Parque
Natural in Santiago for a full long day of hiking with about 30
others (mostly all Couchsurfers). We hiked for about 8 hours (did I
mention that it was a long hike?), the trail winding around the
mountains up to Salto de Apoquindo (Apoquindo Falls) and back down.
It was a 17 km long hike with a few strenuous sections but it was a
steady uphill hike to the falls and reverse coming back. It would
have seemed infinitely long but because we were in good company the
time passed quickly and we had a great time. Mareen carried the
camera bag, to slow her down, and I took all the photos on the trek.
We took a few short breaks along the way and then had lunch at
the Falls (food always tastes great when you work for it). At the end
of the day, Mareen the hiking machine was still ready for another hike
but the rest of us normal people just wanted to have a beer, some
food and SLEEP. So after all the failed hikes in Pucon, this one was
a success!
