Goodbye Galapagos

We spent the last few days really just relaxing on San Cristobal and Santa Cruz. The cruise ended on San Cristobal Island with a visit to the museum and tortoise conservation centre. The first night there, Ramanan got a craving for a hamburger and ended up having one that tasted like cardboard. It also made him really sick and he was out of commission for almost two days. When he was well enough to take a boat, we headed back to Santa Cruz to enjoy our last two days in the Galapagos. Although we were there for 12 days, I still feel like there is so much more to see. It was amazing to experience this special place.  To see nature so pristine and in such abundance!

Pepe, the 63 year-old, obese Land Tortoise at the conservation centre on San Cristobal.

The endemic Hibiscus flowers on San Cristobal, changing colour from yellow to a dusty- red when the blossom is ready to fall off the plant.

The path up to the Cerro Tijeretas on San Cristobal, where there is a nesting colony of Frigate birds.

A visit to Las Grietas on Santa Cruz, a great spot for swimming and cliff diving.

A view of Kicker Rock, a lava formation that is a great diving spot.

A statue of Charles Darwin at the original site where the Beagle disembarked on San Cristobal.
