After spending a few days in Buenos Aires, my impression of it is that it is BIG!! I know Toronto is too with an area of 7000 km squared, over 2.5 million people in the city centre and and over 6 million people if you consider the greater Toronto area (thanks Wikipedia). But that's not the kind of big I am talking about. Being in Buenos Aires, you get a real impression of grandness, with hundreds of elegant structures, buildings and statues in the many plazas and squares. There are towering monuments to historical figures, a park area that seems to take up half the city, and six and eight lane one-way roads. Our impression of it is that it is like a fusion of New York and Washington.
We rented an apartment in Palermo, a poshy area with a lot of restaurants, grocery stores, and access to public transit. One of the first things I did in Buenos Aires was get a hair cut :-) After that we spent the next couple of days exploring Palermo, its parks and getting ourselves oriented. We found a yoga studio for Mareen and a couple of BJJ academies for me to train at. Its nice to be back in a big city!!
Ahh, finally a shave and a haircut. I was about to Fedex you a shaving blade as a birthday gift.
